About SJMiller Arts
SJMiller Arts, a mobile art studio, brings quality fine art and craft instruction directly to your space. Classes are tailored for all ages and ability levels and include all necessary supplies and equipment. Whether you're planning a paint party, workshop, or an art camp, we’ve got an option to inspire creativity in every student.
Painting Instruction
- Ages 3 to 103 – Let us know your group’s age range, and we’ll tailor the activity to match.
- Paint Parties – A fun, 2-hour guided acrylic or watercolor session where participants complete a seasonal painting.
- Formal Painting Workshops – A 2-hour session focused on exercises and exploration of either acrylic or watercolor.
Cost: $375–$500* (Varies by medium and group size)
Fine Art Instruction
(Up to 15 participants)
Charcoal Workshop
2-hour session | Ages 12+
Focused on formal charcoal technique, value, blending, and composition.
Cost: $475–$523*
Oil Pastel Workshop
2-hour session | Ages 12+
Focused on layering, color blending, texture, and medium familiarity.
Cost: $475–$523*
Block Printing – For ages 16+. Create a custom-carved stamp.
Cost: $604*
- Plaster Sculptures – Wire and plaster figurative sculpture activity for ages 16+.

Child and Teen Programs
Art Camps
- Ages: 4–7 and 8–11
- Format: 2-hour themed sessions, often offered in multiples
- Projects: 2–4 per session
- Preferred Group Size: 12 students
- Program Fees:
• Single age group: $1,440
• Two age groups (full camp experience): $2,750
Includes all art materials, setup, facilitation, and cleanup.
Sketchbook Workshop
Sketchbook Series
Ages 12–18 | 3–4 sessions
Designed as a follow-up program for returning partner sites that have previously hosted a workshop or studio program.
This multi-session series gives participants the opportunity to develop ideas over time, receive real-time feedback and mentorship from a professional artist, and build creative confidence through guided prompts, sharing, and critique.
Participants should plan to bring a sketchbook, works in progress, or creative materials to each session.
Available for returning partner sites only.
Teen Introduction to Graphic Design and Animation
- Designed for teen students interested in digital art
- Covers fundamentals of graphic design and animation
- Offered as a series of three 2-hour sessions
- Students must provide their own hardware and software
- Required software: Procreate or ArtDesk
- Stylus recommended for best experience
- Cost: $60 per student
Pre-k Art Workshop
- Ages: 2–4
- Parent & Me sensory art activities in a 1-hour class
- Cost: $335* (10 pairs of participants)

Community Art Projects
Community Art Projects are custom-designed for your community event—such as city days, non-profit events, or festivals. These collaborative projects encourage creativity, connection, and community pride. Pricing is determined upon request based on project scope and event needs.
Murals and Public Art
SJMiller Arts also offers public art and mural services. From concept to installation, these works are tailored to reflect the identity and story of your space. Pricing is available upon request and varies depending on project size, location, and materials.
Meet the Instructor
SammyJo Miller, artist and founder of SJMiller Arts, has over 20 years of studio practice and more than 15 years of teaching experience. From her studio in Walnut Grove, she brings creative energy and expertise in a variety of art forms to every class she leads. She was awarded the Prairie Disciple Award by the Southwest Minnesota Arts Board in 2024, for her work with the Plum Creek Library System.
